England is very different. When you are born, or when you are in a certain social are, things are expected of you. I never thought about career as career. I assumed we would always live there and that would never change

But my life took a big left turn. I had a wonderful family, wonderful nannies, it was a great life. Horses all day long. My mom was a horse nut. Sometimes she would say “Oooh, it looks like you have a temperature today. I don’t think you can go to school!” Then two hours later she would say: “let’s go fox hunting.” A lot of the social graces are expected of you more than the academics. I wanted to do something with horses, but I NEVER wanted to teach.
