I was born in Apple Grove, West Virginia. Ill soon be 79. Apple Grove is just at crossroads. There used to be a school there but they tore it down. I’ve been a heavy equipment operator most of my life; I started when I was about 17 years old.

My mother died at 101 years old, my dad died at 86 years old.

Well, I moved to Ohio when I was 11…let’s see, about 13 years old. Went to school down in Union County, down where the Ladies Reformatory is at if you know where that’s at?

I went to school there then before I came up here I got a job as picking up milk for a milk plant down there at the Nestlé’s Milk Plant. They make ice cream mix and coffee mix.

I worked down there for a couple years until I came up to Findlay. Quit school; I was in the eleventh grade, but my dad couldn’t work, my mother she was busy taking care of kids, so I skipped out. I was one of eleven children. Seven boys and six girls.
