Michael Della Penna III for Mayor of Salisbury, Maryland

I was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1947.  I attended Catholic school until the age of thirteen, then moved to Essex, Maryland where I attended Stemmers Run Junior High School and Kenwood High School.  I graduated in 1966 moving on to Catonsville Junior College, obtaining an associate’s degree in liberal arts.  I entered the United States Army in 1968 and obtained an honorable discharge in September of 1973.

Being an ambitious child, I began selling flowers and produce on the street corners of Baltimore City at the age of eight.  I then moved on to selling shoes at the age of fifteen.  I progressed from sales to management at the age of eighteen.  Being raised to believe in strong morals and hard work,  I decided to joing the army and fulfill my desire to prove just that.  After being discharged from the army, I pursued a career in automobile sales.  I worked my way from salesman to general sales manager.  After spending twenty-five years in the automobile business, I opened my own business and pursued my political career.   I ran for state representative of Pennsylvania in 1994 and have been supporting my political party since that time.

My wife and I love Salisbury...the people, the ambience, the  "small town feel" of a city still growing and flourishing every day.  But after living here, I see things that could be changed for the betterment of all concerned.  Changes  for a happier, healthier city in which to live with an ease of raising children without worry, feeling safe to walk down the streets after dark and making Salisbury a place to be proud of when visited by out-of-towners.  Let’s face it, there are aspects of Salisbury that need cleaning up and I intend to do just that if elected as your mayor.
