Memoir of a Lifelong Teacher

I grew up on a cranberry farm. My parents were born in Finland.  They came to America because they were so poor in Finland.

Growing up on a cranberry farm, you really learn the work ethic. When we get home from the school bus, my father expected us to pick a box of cranberries as, and you know how small those are. We were only paid 50¢ per box.

My father used to hire the local Indians, because none of the local people would work for so little money.
