Well, we of course didn’t make any vacations until after our daughter born. I don’t remember we traveled too much before because we both worked and our vacations didn’t hit the same time, but after she was born and we moved up here we did take vacations. A lot of our vacations were back to Illinois to see our family, but after she got old enough to enjoy traveling and seeing places – grade school age – she loved to travel, so we did take her to various places and saw a lot of the United States.
We didn’t travel out. She has since. I think traveling got into her blood!
Oh, we made one trip. Jim’s mother went home with his sister to Houston, Texas.
She was a widow then and she wanted to visit her daughter and had never been there. So we said if she went down with them, they were coming up to see her, we’d come down and get her. So we did.
We lived in Ohio then and we went to Texas. While we were there we went over to San Antonio, and of course Beth was school age.
I remember going – to a needle with a restaurant at the top where you could see the city. It was very interesting and she was so enjoying it.
It was hard to eat because we were so busy looking. It took more time! And they were anxious to get us out, so more people were waiting and it wasn’t that big a restaurant. But the food was good!
The waitress came to see if we were finished and Beth said, “No I’m not!” cause the waitress started to take her plate, and she said, “I bet I’ve got two dollars worth of food on that plate!”
We thought that was so interesting that she mentioned the cost! But, she was so interested in looking at the city that she didn’t have time to eat.
