When I was younger we would always go back east to see family.
A really fantastic trip was to the 1964 World’s Fair in Seattle. Because my dad was very high up in General Electric, we were VIPs through the World’s Fair so we never waited in a line to go in any of the exhibitions. And we went into all the VIP exhibition areas. We were also flown back there as VIPs.
So again, that was also a sort of a more glamorous time of travel as well; smaller planes, fewer people, and I became very, very fond of flying. I liked the detachment of flying when you were in the air. You watched movies and read books and, you know, it was a whole experience.
Then, when I met you guys (the Brozda family) and you were flying I thought I would try that. I enjoyed the flying as a pilot, but I have to tell you I finally decided that – I think my last flight would have been in 1978 or 1979. I was flying down to Bakersfield to have lunch with my brother and I looked down at Interstate 5 and the cars were going faster than I was cause of the head winds (Laughter).
So, that also sort of happened to coincide with my decision that I wanted to spend any extra money I had on real estate so the flying has got to go. So, that matched up nicely with my becoming a flight attendant because I was actually able to have the enjoyment of flying without having to really do it.
I thought over the years several times if I would ever like to resume flying as a private pilot. I generally I came to the decision it was a great time, I really enjoyed it, but it’s a hobby but I really enjoy traveling and flying as a passenger and just having that sense of just being in another world.
