We had our sailboat and didn’t know spit about sailing. And lucked out—it had a power to it to so we could go to power when we had to. But it was just fun, because Louie always was interested in something else, you know, and something new, and I loved that.

We stayed in Virginia for quite a long while, because Louie was with the American Association of School Administrators. He retired from there, and that’s when we had our boat, the Recess. All of our boats were called Recess. (Laughs.) And we loved that, you know, getting out to the island and being there. Since we SCUBA dived too, it made it fun, because wherever we were we could just have a great time exploring. And then Louie managed to leave me when the boat, when it got sold, so I got to clean it off and clear it off and drive that damn truck home. He was very good at that.

I just knew him very well. He just always, it was something that made our life good. He just always assumed I could do anything. And because of that, anything that he came up with we did. And boy that made it so much more fun. Because I was really a part of it and we did it together and it was fun. It made it good.
