My Daughters Loved Driving Around in the Convertible

I was trying to get systems in and stuff. It took a lot of time. I spent a lot of time teaching the guys what to do cause a lot of them had a tough time learning. The only thing I regret is that I didn’t spend much more time with the kids, but I’ve got quite a good time with them and they got along alright. I bought a convertible and they all learned to drive on it (Laughs)!

Well, the guy up there honked cause he was, he said, “You want to buy my convertible?” I said, “I don’t know! What do you want for it?”

Well, I don’t know it was $1600 or something like that. It wasn’t worth much really. So I had him bring it up and showed it to my wife and my wife, she never liked convertibles, but she liked this car so we bought it. I don’t know how long I had it but I had it for quite a while and then I sold it for $2500! (Laughs)

But the girls, they all drove it and they all worked. They worked at McDonalds and the Findlay laundry down here. Well one of them spent a summer out at the…can’t think of what it is, my mind goes every now and then.

Well, yeah. We went up to New England by Boston. We went to Boston then we went up to Maine and had some fish and stuff. We spent the night in a little motel.

During the night somebody left his water on. My family took showers the night before in the morning and I got in there and got all soaped up and ran out of water! (Laughs) I had no water. I remember that one! We had some ice in our carrier and I brought that in and it thawed and I used that cold water to rinse off a little bit with!

But then we went out and we were walking around and I said, “I’m lathered up with soap. Let’s get out of here!” Walking around and the kids, they thought it was great. (Laughs)

I’ve always like horses and being out on the farm. When I came back from the service I sent some money home to my dad and told him to buy me a saddle horse. He did and it was a mare. I had her bred and I got a Palomino and that was when they were first coming out.

I got one of those and I kept him until he died. Then I had another Sorrel and they were probably my high points was getting them horses! I like horses. I rode them a lot, but then I got married and got to working and stuff and there just wasn’t time to drive 20 miles out to that farm.

So I sold them all but I kept the Palomino, but I didn’t get out there and I didn’t get his feet trimmed they way I should have and stuff. That was the sad part of it. I don’t know…any big points in my life or not? I can’t think of anything
