I Surf, and Meet Some of the Surfing Greats

I started surfing in the nineteen sixties when it was a fad. I had a couple of Woody station wagons and boards. I really enjoyed the beach life, and I frequented Santa Cruz quite a bit. I get to know a lot of people.

But when I bought my first house, it was in south San Jose, so I was out of the surfing scene. I didn’t surf too much, and unfortunately my drinking got worse. That affected both my mental and physical health.

In 1979 and moved over Santa Cruz. In 1980 I got married to Deborah. I get back into surfing when I quit drinking. In fact my young son surfs quite a bit and Pleasure Point and he’s pretty well known there. He’s following in my footsteps but hopefully, the good side!

My son tried going to college. He wanted to be a professional baseball player. He came to the realization that he had gone as far as he could go. I’m proud of him and proud of my eighteen year old son who is going to college. He’s a catcher on his baseball team.

I’ve had conversations with both my kids about why their mother and father are together. I’ve told them the truth.
