A Legacy of Service

Bud and Peg raised eight children. When Peg passed away, Bud married Clara Murphy, adding four more children to the family. Today, his combined family, including children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, numbers 56.

The YMCA was a very special organization for Bud. As a young man in Schenectady New York, Bud lived at the “Y.” Over the years he served as vice president and chairman on numerous boards in Schenectady, Santa Clara, and San Jose. He received the John D. Crummey Legacy Award for fostering the growth and stature of the YMCA in the Santa Clara Valley.

As an alumni, he continued to support Becker College, and was awarded the Doctor of Humane Letters Degree. He also served as president of the Satatoga-Los Gatos Board of Realtors. He is an honorary member of the Saratoga Men’s Cluband the Rotary Club. He was also an active participant in numerous professional and religious organizations as a member of Sacred Heart (Saratoga) Parish, the Serra Club, and Vocations for Priests. HE was instrumental in founding centers for new priests in San Jose, and Stamford, Connecticut.
