I stayed at home until 21. My dad got married again probably when I was about 19 and I lived there for two years, although I worked various jobs. I drove a truck, I worked at a stone quarry, and I worked at a dairy.
Then in when I was 21 I got hired into IBM. But as a technician IBM wouldn’t train you for a little more advanced stuff as long as you was potentially draft able. In those days they drafted at the top age of 25, so, I was 21 so it looked like I would of have had to wait until 25 to either get drafted or get declared no draft.
So I volunteered and put my name at the top of the list and got drafted at 21. That ended my life at home. When I came back then I went back to IBM and I worked in Lima and went to school and ended up in Sidney.
Lima is where I worked for IBM for just a short time before I went into the Army and when I got back I was officially working in Lima, although I spent about three months in training. Then I got transferred directly to Sidney.
