We Have a Close Commitment with God

When my mother was ill, religion was very important to us. We tried to have a close commitment with God all the time. I remember up here at the hospital the minister from my mom and dad’s church came and my mother was not good and she asked me if I was really ready for my mother die, and I thought I am, but you never are.

You never are. And, I think our faith in God has put us through many things. My husband worked for Marathon Oil Company and during our marriage, and he was relocated to a different job within the company which made it night shifts and all this sort of things. You know, you have to go along with the trends of the years and so because of that we just kind of have gotten a real strong faith in God.

I turned out to be a Methodist and he was EUB or United Brother and they have merged them, you know those two churches as United Methodist Church now. So, we kind of worked on those problems; his job responsibility, but he did have 35 years before he retired from Marathon, and so after this little niche in our life then someone saw that he had many potentials and they brought him back to the regular mainstream a few years later.

During all those things, the times when you have difficulties, you find that your faith in God is really something that leads you. You don’t know why, how or how it’s going to work out but you have to have that faith I think.
