My Faith Has Helped me Weather the Loss of my Husband and my Son

I’m Protestant. Faith is very important, and I don’t know how – there’s a girl that came in today. I don’t know if you noticed or not? She just lost her granddaughter in a car accident last weekend.

And, Lil and I were talking out there and I said, “I don’t know how people go through something like this without the Lord because I couldn’t have done it.” Absolutely.

Then my son died almost a year ago and that was almost as bad as losing my husband. You are not supposed to lose your children.

But he had cancer and by the time he found he had it was too late to do anything. He had gone to Cancer Centers of America in Tulsa. We’d go back and forth.

The last time we were out there they wouldn’t let him leave for three weeks and then they said there wasn’t anything they could do so they rented a van and put a mattress in the back and brought him home because he couldn’t have been on a plane. They probably wouldn’t have let him.

And he died about three days after he came home.

And like I can get through it now talking about it, you know, for a long time I couldn’t.

But that’s the lows in my life.

I have daughter out here that works at the Fox Hunting Manor. She’s a nurse and been out there for 20 years. I moved up here. I’m living with her brother-in-law who’s a truck driver and I’m living at his place. So, I keep busy doing all sorts of stuff.
