Religion never played much of a part my life and I’m a little disappointed in myself in that regard. I was raised in a Jewish family. When I got up here I tried to go to High Holiday services in September, but it’s been difficult. I was somewhat offended going to the local temple.

The rabbi wanted to meet me personally and talk. During our first meeting he hit me up for a donation. I had never been approached that way before and I didn’t like it. I paid him and I went to temple but I haven’t been to temple since. I didn’t check out any other temples; that was a big enough shock for me.

I came here to this retirement home without a car. I didn’t think that at this stage of my life a car was the right thing for me. There aren’t a lot of temples around here; there’s only one within walking distance. The next closest ones are miles away.
