Yeah, I got married in my senior year at Okalahoma State. I married Eugenia Stites and we were married for 17 years. So, she came out with me to California and we found a place to live in Pacific Grove where she would act as the receptionist/bookkeeper/office person for this guy who repaired appliances. In return; he had his appliance store on one side of the house and we got to live on the other side of the house. So, she worked for our rent and I got my GI bill to help pay for groceries and that kind of stuff. That was petering out and that’s why I had to go to work. We needed to start earning some money. She got a job too.
I have no children. Carol Gervatz, my current partner, has two kids. That’s actually been a great relationship. She and her former husband; he still lives here with his new wife and they have another child, but we’ve gotten along great. We get together for birthdays and holiday time so it’s kind of an unusual extended family which is nice. No bitterness or acrimony or anything like that comes out of their relationship. My wife; when we divorced she went back to Okalahoma and really we haven’t seen each other or even talked since she left California. I am always in love. Romance is important.
