Well, I got married to Jim as a home economist for the power company. After I graduated from Heidelberg I started a job in Limo, Ohio with Ohio Power Company as a home economist. Then about six months down the road I was transferred to Findlay, Ohio and some of my other home economist friends with the power company knew of Jim because they knew he was from the Upper Sandusky area and, “That would be a good catch for you, Jean!” you know, this type of thing. But, it turned out he lived at the same apartment complex that I did and we did hit it off and so we got married on April 26, 1969, so we’ve been married now 37 years.
But, we weren’t able to have any children and I stopped doing my Home Ec. work on purpose because I thought maybe I could have children, but that didn’t seem to work.
So, then we went through the adoption process and we have two children; Jennifer Mae who is 33 years old, and John who is 29, and each of them has their own family. Jennifer is married to Leo Cunningham who is a black man and he’s going to the Methodist Theological Seminary and has graduated from that, but he’s in the internship of the Methodist Church now, applying again for ordination this year June. They have two children, Elisa who is 5 going on 30, and Amani who is 11 and he is a football player. Amani Sebastian Cunningham. When they had him I go, “You better write that down, Leo, I don’t think I know how to spell that!”
So, they live in the Delaware area, Delaware, Ohio in a little town called Ostrander. This is the second church that Leo has had and Ostrander is probably on the map for, one time I think, a PGA who won one time from Ostrander, Ohio.
