One day while I was home on vacation I met Bob. We met through a mutual friend. His mother and my mother were social friends. Sebastopol was a very tiny town with only about 3500 people. Because they were friends, bob asked me out and we get married two years later.
We met on Valentine’s Day. Bob’s mother was in the hospital, and he was in the pharmacy looking for a gift for her. I knew Bob’s mom and she was a very, very flamboyant woman. I knew what she would like So I suggested that he buy her this big, gaudy, junky, ring. I helped bob pick out the rating, and his mother loved it!
Bob’s mother was an antiques dealer. She sold antiques out of her home which was called “the Enchanted Barn.” She’s no longer alive. She wore Harlequin glasses, had silver hair and always wore black. She owned a series of Cadillacs, including a red convertible and the green convertible.
Bob’s father was originally a policeman in Santa Rosa. Then he went into business with bugs grandfather. They were a very close-knit Italian family. His grandfather was a developer of homes and movie theaters. He developed a subdivision in Sebastopol. To control all of his children he gave them each a house. He did this so that he could have them right at hand and tell them how to live their lives.
At one point bob and I owned a movie theater and worked in them. I was the cashier and I loved it. Bob was the projectionist, which is what he was doing when I met him. He also attended the university of San Francisco.
I used to go to dances with boys from Stanford and university of San Francisco and Santa Clara and saint Mary’s.
