My Husband and I Worked Together

I was dating at 16 and eventually at 18 when I graduated we got married. It was kind of off and on because my sister didn’t want me to go steady. She thought I was too young to go steady, which I was.

Alton was from Mount Cory, Ohio and his parents were farmers and he was a very good student. He received a scholarship to Ohio Northern and this was during the Depression. He made his first semester and his grades were fine but there was no money for him to go any further and that was before - all these things are possible now. He liked mechanics and was very handy with his hands with anything he did and eventually he had a business of his own. He was a carburetion specialist for 30 years and I was the bookkeeper and whatever else there was to do. Not mechanically but I’d deliver and pick up things or whatever.
