Today I’m pretty happy with my life. I don’t use any alcohol or drugs. I ran into Diana Celeste who was the gal that I had dated in high school. I met her at a class reunion in 1993. I had been sober a year and a half. As soon as I saw her I knew that I would be with her for the rest of my life.

I fell in love with her when I saw her in 1993. She was going through a divorce. I hooked up with her in 1997, basically, and we have been together ever since.

I got back into surfing and doing something healthy for myself. I had reconciliation with all my children which has been very positive.

On October 26, 2005, I got to do something very special with Diana. We went to Maui, Hawaii, and we had a special spiritual Hawaiian blessing on the beach. We’re not legally married, we’re morally married. That’s been the greatest thing in my life besides seeing my kids being born.

I’m pretty lucky in my life; I made a lot of mistakes in the past, but I’m not the same person I used to be.
