I went to Kings River grammar school which is about four miles north of town. At the time I lived a mile south of town. I walked to school. That was the only way you could get there.

In high school I used to go out for sports. The buses would leave at about 4:00 in the afternoon and if you were out for a sport you had to find your own way home. But I never had much trouble. I would get out in the road and someone would pick me up and give me a ride home. Nowadays, no one will give you a ride.

I went out for the football team for two years and the baseball team for four years. In all the time I don’t think I ever walked all the way home. Someone always picked me up. Now if you get out there you would walk home every day.
