Memories of School Days

Flo wrote in her "Little Pink Book" some of her memories when she was school-aged.

She wrote: "I was 15 years old when I learned this....."And God stepped out on earth and said, ‘I’m lonely I’ll make me a world’, and as far as the eye of God could see, Darkness covered everything; Blacker than a hundred midnight, down in Cypress Swamp, He clapped His hands, and the thunder rolled Blinked His eyes, the lightning flashed – Fishes, Birds, Beast + Fowl, The waters above the earth came down, The cooling waters came down.”  He said ‘I’m still lonely’ + knelt down by the river bank + cupped a piece of clay, And molded it to His own image + into it, He Blew the breath of life + Man became a living soul” (Somewhere is a complete version try Internet)

She also wrote: "I believe I was about 12 – 13 years old when I heard Salvation Army preaching on Steinway Street, Astoria. One phrase stays with me…Have you thanked Him? Well I always remembered that. Oh. Yes. Also I got hit on my backside By a cop –
with his night stick on my bottom. What a sting! Kids were mimicking + taunting the small Army. Maybe I was too but I don’t feel I would do that. But I got a shot also."
