I’ve had a very uneventful life, I must admit. I didn’t do much. In high school, I sang in the choir. We also had a great glee club and we used to sing in a lot of concerts. I also sang in the city-wide choirs. I’m still singing!

During college I work so I didn’t have time to do anything. College was a chore frankly. I had some awful teachers but it was fun.

The interesting thing was that we use to get a lot of kids from the south. They wouldn’t let them attend universities in the south but they would pay their way, their out-of-state tuition, and room and board to come north. We knew quite a few people from Saint Louis. The kids get a better education up north.

My sister was a librarian and I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. When it was time to graduate from college I thought I had better decide on something and I just fell into library science because she was there. Now my sister’s daughter is a librarian.

I have enjoyed every minute of being a librarian. It’s great; it’s just wonderful. You meet so many people. I have met so many friends.
