Fun Times in a Beautiful, Small-Town High School

Los Gatos high was a lot of fun. I met a lot of people and went to a lot of parties. I worked hard in school. I planned to be a teacher when I went to San Jose state, but then I got married and never went back to school except for night classes.

High school was a fun experience for me. I liked how it broadened my scope of life. I was in drama. I loved social studies and those kinds of classes. Plus, it was beautiful. Los Gatos was a small town at those times.

I graduated from high school in 1960. I only went to San Jose state for about a year and a half. But since then I have gone to a lot of classes at Cabrillo College at night. I stopped doing those classes in about 1984 but I still think about going back. I love school.

I was married when I was nineteen. I first job at the telephone company that no longer exists. It was located right as you entered Los Gatos. I think it used to be called Western telephone or something like that.

I worked as a receptionist; the receptionist thing has always been a natural for me.

I didn’t work at the phone company for very long because I got pregnant with Gretchen and I used to get sick on the switchboard. It was the old kind of switchboard… the last of the plug-ins.

I had ___________in 1963, Robby and 64, Richard in the 65, Heidi in 67, and Sherry and 69. Lots of kids, back-to-back.

Now my son lives with me at home with his three year old son. After Robert died I lived all alone. Now it just seems like Robby and Riley should be with me. But all five of my children live in Santa Cruz County. Everyone is close and we get together a lot.

Often we meet in Ben Lomond where my daughter has a big Victorian house with a big yard. The kids can play; there’s lots of room.
