I am very grateful for getting dropped in where I did. So many people get a bad start in life. When I reflect on my own upbringing, there were flaws but my parents did a pretty good job as far as proving a good household. And being born in America is a gift in itself. I am grateful that I met my wife because she has made my life a lot richer than it would have been otherwise. And I am grateful that things have generally gone well. I think when I was younger; I had more of a sense that more of life was in my control.

As I have gotten older, I have realized that a certain amount of it is in my control, but there are big chunks that aren’t. It is easy to look at people who are less fortunate and think that they should get a job, but they started out much further back than I did and it is kind of hard to make those judgments.

So I am grateful that I got a good leg up early on. I think that life is kind of a humbling experience because you realize that you maybe are not as great as you might have thought and a lot of what you have is due to good circumstances.
