I Had My Mother until she was 112

For as long as I have lived and for as healthy as I am and of course for all my kids because I don’t know what I would have done without them when I lost their dad, but just grateful to be here, to be able to do things, to be able to still drive, which one of these days I am not going to be able to and that will kill me. But, my father was 93 when he died and my mother was 112 and 8 months when she died.

112 and eight months. My youngest son says, “Add those 8 months on there!”

And she was 104 before she had to go in a nursing home. That was because she had arthritis in her knees so bad she couldn’t walk anymore. She lived there for 12 years and I went out from the time she was 100 until the time she was 109, I went out every year, and she didn’t know me when I went out that last time. I didn’t go out again. My brothers and sisters out there think that – or sister, I only had one sister – though that was terrible that I didn’t come out there. I lost my mother when she was 109.

She didn’t know me, and then my son went out on her 111th I think and the pictures he brought back I’m just as glad I didn’t go.
