The Loss of My Brother Was a Turning Point in my Spirituality

In 1976 by brother died. I felt that this event was a real impetus for me to leave the church. I mentioned that it was Texas culture and children’s gymnastics, but I think I could have found a way. Losing my brother was hard.

That was the first loss. You don’t expect it. That was a turning point in my religion, or worship, or spirituality.

Bill was diagnosed with cancer at the tail end of 1998 or 1999. That was another turning point.

We value each other a lot more, and we live more in the moment since then.

Wins?

I’m not going to put them in order but my two graduations really made me feel good. The births of my three daughters were just wonderful. The ability to be in our grandchildren’s lives. We were with our youngest daughter with both of her children’s births, and it was just awesome.

Being with our grandchildren are high points for me. They get on my nerves (laughing), but I enjoy being around them.
