My Father Suffers Life-Threatening Electrical Burns

My father was an electrician who worked for Moffett field. He was hit by 6600 volts of electricity which was not his fault. This happened in the nineteen fifties.

My father was going by an electric panel that didn’t have a warning on it. He saw that it looked dirty, so he tried to clean it and Bam! He got hit by all this electricity that ran through his body.

An electric chair uses 2000 volts of electricity. My father almost died; he hit the ground and left an imprint of him self there. He had second and third degree burns on his body; it was like melting rubber. You could see that his body just rolled away. It was all on one side of his body; it was horrible.

They kept him in the hospital, and the smell was so bad that they used to have perfume around. Then the smell of perfume became evil to me. This woman who looked like a gigantic horse was the nurse who took care of him. I still remember seeing all that.

I remember seeing his body burned from the neck down.

He recovered and finally got a lawyer and they made a settlement that he got so much per month.

Dad Gets Into Real Estate, and Prospers

After that, my father got into the property management business and that’s where he made his money. He would buy properties, fix them up and sell them.

One time, he bought property in San Jose Located between two companies. He knew that one of them would have to expand. The companies fought with one another to give my father the best price. He also made money creating advertising signs for properties.
