Our youngest son as I say is building homes down and Carmel. Our oldest son is living just below Monterey and works for a publishing company. He is the treasure of the local office of the company. It’s a financial and educational publishing company. It’s a big one.
His company got into a cost jam and had to send everyone home. They didn’t take them off the payroll, but they couldn’t provide an office. So my son Chris wanted to stay with the company and he had to put an office in his home, which he did.
Growing up, the boys were good boys. Chris is very bright. He got his mother’s genes. He went to school in Saratoga.
The other boy wasn’t inclined academically. He liked machines and machinery. He became a carpenter and works for a guy. Shawn does very well.
Between the two boys we had a daughter. She got on the wild side which isn’t all that unusual. She started going in and out of jail and finally took her own life at age 39. We were very saddened by that. It’s very sad particularly when you adopt one and you try to do everything you can for them. That was tough on us. She got involved with drugs and finally ended up doing a real jail time. That finished her off. She came out to a safe house and brought with her 100 pills. She took them all the first night. She was gone the second night.
She wanted to come home but her social workers said that would be the wrong thing for her to do. The social worker advised us that she had to get on her own feet and demonstrate to herself that she could make it. For her that might have been the wrong prescription, but we don’t know that stuff.
