I graduated in 1940. ’41 is Pearl Harbor. That was a sad time. A lot of my classmates immediately entered the service.
It was a very serious time. We were very concerned. Concerned about our country and about the fellas that were fighting for our country. We didn’t mind; we were rationed, and we didn’t mind this.
We were glad to give up things if it helped. That’s why I can’t understand nowadays people so willing to pay what they do to pay for gasoline and not willing to cut down using it! You notice it here because of the Interstate 75 out here and all the traffic on it.
