At age 13, John was just a young teenage boy; and he grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii. One event that he so vividly remembered was
the day that took place, on Sunday December 7, 1941. He had witnessed the Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor, with their surprise
attack. This occurrence was a most tragic and a very frightening day. He did recall the Japanese pilots, flying their planes low;
wearing these goggles like kamikaze pilots. They were bombing, and attacking Pearl Harbor. Franklin D. Roosevelt was
the President at that time. Thus, that was the onset of World War II. The bombing of Pearl Harbor was an event never to forget, with
great loss of life. John just accounts that day, the most horrific day witnessed!
