Jack goes to Korea

While I was married, Jack went to Korea. John was three and Karen was five. I had lived with my dad. John was always into something! It was a good year.
When Jack came back, I went back into civil service and I put the kids in school. When Jack was getting his master’s degree, it sure helps that I could also work. We got along fine.
My mom died quite early. Then my grandmother came and lived with my dad and she remarried some old codger. He had spells of being despondent. He was gonna kill himself one time, and dad had to go fish him out of the reservoir. It was just age.
My grandmother homesteaded and she had three boys with her. Then, there were three or four girls that were within a very short distance of one another in Wyoming. Dick, and Uncle Paul, and Joe and her husband. The whole group of them moved out to Wyoming.
They moved from Missouri to Wyoming during the depression. That’s where they had land and could raise things to live on. During the depression living was hard; he just couldn’t find places to work.
Grandmother homesteaded, and she married this old fellow. My mom died and he moved in with dad. He didn’t know north from south. He got lost so easily!
I moved from Sacramento to Santa Cruz because my son John lives here. I worked civil service here for awhile, then retired. I’m very careful with what I’d do and what I don’t do. I’ve done pretty well for 83.
