During the war, I was young girl but I don’t recall a whole lot. I had a lot of relations that was in it, of aunts and uncles that had boys that were in the service. My dad was a very opinionated Democrat and my mother was a very quiet Republican. (Laughter)
Mother was one of these that sort of set back and didn’t carry the argument. We just kind of all let him speak his peace. He was very open and above about Churchill and Roosevelt and all these big names, you know? I can remember he used to throw it at us and we’d think, oh gee, it’s so boring, but yet it wasn’t because we weren’t that close to the war. We had no brothers or immediate, but still we talked about it.
