Look for serendipity. Absolutely. Then follow up. Everything I ever did that seemed doubtful has always worked out. What more can you ask for?
Also pay your taxes and try to keep out of jail (laughter).
Keep active. People have to move. I see so many friends who retire and sit down and then are unable to move. In a few years they die. I don’t want to live if I can’t move, and neither did my wife. Neither of us wanted to be in a nursing home. The retirement home we were in had a swimming pool, bowling alley, tennis courts.
In the army I played a lot of bridge so I taught Andree how to play, but we would get mad at one another. Later on she took lessons and she ought to be a better player than I was. We only had a few arguments. We always had books to look up answers, and we manage to get along fine. But we both loved bridge. Keep your mind busy.
