Don’t try to grow up too fast. Enjoy your childhood. There’s plenty of time to be a grown-up. Go with your goals. If you feel strongly about being something, then go for it; don’t let people tell you that you can’t do something. I think if you really want to be something, you can be something.
Sometimes it’s funny because my friend Debbie and I joke. We’re both Italian, and we both came from middle-class families. None of the people in our family ever had a lot of money. Debbie and I feel like we should only have the best of anything. When we want to spend money, we want to spend a lot of money. No saving and scrimping. I’ve always been the type of person who, if I had it, spent it. I spend it on my friends or my home
My tastes haven’t always been modern. I went through the phase with tie-dye. I used to tie-dye Christian’s little tee shirts when he was a baby. He was very well dressed. I went through that phase. I’ve always liked modern, even when I went through the phase with the oak furniture. Do you remember when everyone had antique oak furniture? I went through that phase, but I always stuck to the more clean lines.
