Oh, my wisdom? I pray a lot and I believe you really have to believe what you are saying, what you’re praying and not be selfish. I don’t know…let’s see, I’ve had bad luck but it’s hard for me to grasp onto it for some reason.

That last baby was the 28th of August, 1952. My husband had gone out to get the chores done. I sent one of the kids out and said, “Go and tell your dad I need him.”

So he come in and took me to the hospital and the baby was going like this (Moving around sounds), and the doctor says, “I have never seen a baby act like that. Boy you are going to have a football player or maybe two!” I said, “Well it doesn’t matter what it is,” I said, “Just so as he’s healthy,” and I went back under the eth for the second time

Then when he was born I said, “Well what did I have?” and the doctor said, “Sorry, but he’s gone.” Of course that really hit me because he was so lively you know? He just…I don’t know. I can still see him about that long. He just looked like he was a month old. But…it was really awful. He was a redhead. A cute little kid. Filled out so nice and naturally. Yeah, that was in 1952.

I had all my kids before I started working. In fact, a couple years after the baby died – I don’t know my husband probably seen a problem in my life, you know?

The way I was taking care of the kids, and he said, “Honey,” he says, “Would you like to go and see if you can find some kind of work?”

Oh, I grabbed onto that because I had been wanting to, and whenever I’d say something to him he’d say, “What’ll I do? I can’t take care of the kids and the farming too?” So I didn’t bother doing that.

All of my sisters were going to work. He said, “Well they don’t the amount of children you have!” So I thought that was real sensible so I thought, well I’ll just do what I could. So, I sewed for the kids and made all their clothes and shirts and things like that. I did everything I could. Fire some more questions.
