"A plane trip with Gram is something I’ll cherish forever too. We talked about how spiritual it was being up there." Lisa
"The last dinner we had together...she picked me up at the airport and we went to the Greek restaurant in Sayville...she ate appetizers as the main course and loved it...she did not like the French wine and sent it back for Californian....she did not like that either ( she told the waiter) but spared me and did not send it back. I think the oxygen she had to lug around with her affected her taste buds. We went back to her apartment and I hung out for a while until Jay came to pick me and we went out for a night of debauchery. It was the last time I was alone with her and I will treasure it forever." Jamie
"..driving thru a horrible snowstorm on Christmas Eve to get me a cardboard store so i could play my marionette in it. She was great for things like that." Donna
"I remember working at Grand Union, I was 15-17 and she used to come up and wait on my line and tell everyone else on the line what a great kid i was and how proud of me she was,,, and everyone else would agree with her and they started calling me "the mayor" because she said everyone knew me and certainly everyone did after that!" Dustin
"...when Chris and myself were younger, we would roll up a sock and she would throw it all over the room and we would make diving catches." Gene
"She also went on hunts for all of us, and made sure she if she found something at a sale that one of us would like (even if she just thought we would) she’d pick it up... I have soo many of the original printings of the Hardy Boys and Tom Swift because of her and I have a huge sword that she bought me (apparently used in a spanish war :)... she rocked... she still does!" Dustin
"...when I came home from school in the late spring when it was nice out. She would have all the windows in the house open, the front door wide open and her classical music in the background playing while she was doing her thing………very peaceful." Gene
"...at the wedding and we had our dance. She told me how proud she was of me and that Dawn was a great person. She jokingly said Dawn couldn’t have me." Gene
"That guy Bill was trying to woo her (Bill, right?)and she was trying to figure out what to do about it. She would get coy around him and I remember thinking it was cute and sweet. I had never seen her like that before. I think she just really liked someone wooing her.. though years before I’m sure she wouldn’t have given him a second glance. I liked her asking me for advice about "boys". That same day we went to the diner near the shop and I had goulash. It was good! I always felt so proud to be her Granddaughter when I went in that shop with her. Well...I was always proud of her but especially then. They were in awe of her. I think most people were." Lisa
"It was really close to her last days and she said that she was "more powerful than Hitler was" for she really did create the master race and that was her kids and grandkids - no kidding but she meant it in the nicest way. Always had a way with words!" Deb
