Do the best you can, up to the very best of your abilities

Lessons Learned

The one thing I would say about elementary school, high school, and those years running up to college: don’t lose it and do the best you can, up to the very best of your abilities.  One of my sons had the same problem I did.  He got to be free and easy in high school, not as bad as me, but almost.  The girls were better.

The best buddies that I had in high school were the same I had when I was 6 years old, all the way through grade school, middle school, and high school.  Now, I’m just talking about a small number, there were 4 guys.  And we still, to this day, have a reunion every year in Las Vegas, and we’ve been doing that for 10 years.  These are the guys that I grew up with: Lewie Schmidt, Tommy Riel (he was the best man at my wedding), Jerry Quigley, and Mike Weber.  Three of them still live in Minnesota and the other one in Texas.  The Minnesota folks spend their winters in Pheonix.

I never learned to dance when I was in high school, I absolutely never learned to dance despite the fact that I had 5 sisters who all could dance.  I was never comfortable at a high school dance, other than the senior prom.  I don’t think I attended a one.   I did go to the senior prom though.
