My mother’s mother was from Germany, I believe.  My father’s relatives were all from Norway.

My father was in the coast guard during world war two.  He was an expert marksman.  He helped catch some fellas who were getting off of a German submarine on Staten Island during the war.

His job was to guard the coast.  During that adventure it was winter, and his buddy fell and broke his leg but they got the guys coming off the sub.

My cousin Candace Rialson was in the movie “The Eiger Sanction” with Clint Eastwood. She was in a bunch of movies.  She just died this year (2006), very young.  She started drinking, and died of alcoholism.

Candace was quite an actress.  She tried out for the Dean Martin show and got the job.  They were on stage, trading jokes back and forth.  She was one looker!
