Uncle Paul Carries on With the Teacher, and Learns a Lesson

One year, they moved the schoolhouse. It was a country schoolhouse, and I went there. They taught us… more or less! When I graduated I went to Bozeman, Montana. I was in the field of education. I also worked math problems.

The schoolteacher lived in the “cheap wagon.” She would go home on weekends. My uncle Paul was playing around with the schoolteacher. To came over one day and was crying to mom about it. My mother absolutely kicked her off the porch and said: “go home and take care of your own affairs!”

I think Uncle Paul straightened up.

I Go To Business School in Bozeman

I went to business school in Bozeman Montana. From there, I tried to join the service, but my lungs were too bad. I tried to get into the women’s army corps. That was immediately after world war two. I was in Billings, Montana at the time.

Then, I went civil service to Alaska. I worked in Alaska. I graduated from the civil service as mathematics major. I worked with people all the time. I am a numbers person, a numeric.

One day a horse was killed by lightning, and she had a suckling foal. That little fellow came in and drank cow’s milk. We had to feed it! These things don’t happen every day to everybody.
