In Our Working Class Neighborhood, Everyone Knew Everyone

I grew up in Madrid, in a working district, Tetuan de las Victorias, surrounded by my mother’s family. It was a typical neighborhood, where everyone knew everyone.

Family businesses, old fashioned markets, and a metro station right next to our house. I always thought it was all we needed; we were at the right place. I completed my education while living there and my childhood friends are from that area.

I still keep in touch with many of them.
